I am a regular visitor from Australia and have always loves how your towns and villages have trees and hanging plants it gives the place character and charm. If the trees go it will look like an exercise yard in a prison.

Trees are vital to improve air quality and aid drainage.
Removing trees is not exactly in line with the interests of the National Park.
They are no more of a trip hazard than the kerb to the pavement , café tables or the advertising boards outside many shops.
Please leave them alone.

These beautiful trees are now part of petersfields history and should not be cut down, there are other ways to stop the roots from causing problems, maybe by enlarging the bed around the Base of the tee with a retaining small wall. They simply must stay!

The beautiful tree lined avenues of London - even relatively small residential roads with narrow pavements eg Kew, Chelsea etc wouldn't be what they are if their councils had followed the same reasoning as being voiced here. Please think again about cutting down these trees.

These trees are central to the landscape of the town centre - there are no others bar those in car parks. Unless irrevocably diseased, it is a crime to fell them. I can think of a dozen alternative ways to protect the public from raised roots...just ask me!

EHDC operating as agents for SDNPA have taken it upon themselves to desecrate The Square without ANY justification, apparent referral to SDNPA OR a public consultation process!
Disgusted with EHDC's autocratic conduct :-(

It's a nice square, but made better with trees, flowers and moving clouds - keep at it!
