One tree in particular, a small cherry tree near the bicycle sheds, has been targeted for removal. Although this tree is in poor health through decades of neglect it is likely to be at least 60 years old. It is planned to park the prospective bus/classroom on this area so sadly this tree in particular is now 'in the way'.
We would greatly value your support to save this tree and to promote the long term protection and continuing health of this and all trees within the school grounds.
Generations of children have loved and cherished this tree please help us to preserve it for future generations.

The school administration is still not responding to our requests for a meeting regarding the cherry tree. Post the link to this petition on your Facebook wall today so they understand how many people are watching this decision. Email your local representative to demand a formal review of the site plans before any work begins on the bike shed area.

I remember the tree. I remember it being in fairly poor health 30 years ago too. This isn't just about reminiscence though, there's an important lesson here: As long as it's not dangerous there's no real reason to remove it, things can be moved around.
If more classroom space is required then build it. A bus is not the answer. Trees are more important than advertising space.
conservation and history need i say more. i used to play forty forty round that tree i'm now 45 my brother would be 51 if he was still alive and he played around that tree too.
I'm now 38 but remember vividly my mum always meeting me by the tree!! It would be such a shame to lose it, and for a bus class room - REALLY?!!!
This tree is an important part of the history of Earley St Peter's School and has a special places in the hearts and memories of parents and pupils past and present. It is also a regcognised and loved visual part of the school for the local community. It is wrong that it is apparently going to be destroyed for the sake of some hoped for advertising revenue.

The environment around us has a significant impact on us as human beings. Do we want our children to grow up thinking that the environment around us is not important? We have to protect this cherry tree which has stood here for 60 years as a symbol of hope for children and their future.
