Final supporters
This tree is a habitat for a magpie family , one of the fledglings “Chookie “ we helped raise fir about 4 weeks till he found his feet or feathers so to speak .
He has since returned to his family and we have joy in watching them roost in our beloved tree .
There is also a cluster of butcher birds and their offspring who delight us with their morning warblings - also flocks of lorikeets who drink from a small well that fills up in a hollow after rain - nature’s water cooler
This is the only significant tree in our street !
It s shade and aesthetic value so important
We’re happy to compromise with some branch lopping but please help us to preserve this majestic tree .
We suggested to Pier Park Caravan Park to refrain from 2 sights that the tree provides shade for in case of a branch drop - they wouldn’t hear of it - lose too much money
Let’s not turn our suburbs into a concrete jungle and preserve alive this living breathing majestic Tree -home to its many inhabitants

The caravan park management continues to ignore our proposal to relocate the two sites under the canopy. Contact their front office today to demand they prioritize this habitat over a small amount of revenue. Post the petition link on your Facebook page to make sure the entire neighborhood knows what is at stake.

Too often profits are put in front of any common sense. Habitat trees like this one take many years to grow and provide shade, shelter and food for a vast array of our wildlife. Safety is an issue? Then minimise the risk and don’t put campers under it.
For magpies sake, please dont be so cruel taking down those left over trees that serves as their shelter specially in this scorching hot weather...just trim those precious remaing tree on the site!
Tree was obviously deemed safe during development - the fence constructed around it - how can it now SUDDENLY be deemed SO unsafe the WHOLE tree needs to be sacrificed?!
Please don’t remove the tree for the sake of to parking spots they have more than enough room in the van park
They think it’s dangerous for their park residents although they had caravans parked in those 3 sites all over Xmas and the New Year ???
Don’t cut chookie and his family of many generations tree down
I have lived in Hervey Bay for 31 years and the beautiful majestic tree has been here those 31 years and I am lead to believe many more years than that. We need to preserve as much of nature as we can. There are many Gum trees along the Esplanade that are every bit the size of this one and Council won’t cut them down. The birds and wild life have occupied this tree for as long as I can remember. Please help us to save it from being killed.

I get so sad knowing, the almighty dollar as destroyed so many family of animals, and it as, this tree belongs to a family. Chookie and his family, the animals r suffering enough, no water or feed for them, don’t take there home from them to, please council just save tree for this family.
