This service is very important to a lot of people. So it is at this time we ask you to think of this as important as it is. A lot looks good on paper, But in the real world closing this service would not be good for the community. Thank you for your time.

are they kidding, this service is a necessity for the residents, and will hurt the tourism industry up that way that supports so many folks and families. They need to dig their heads out of there butts and take a good deep breath of Cape Breton fresh air to clear their minds. !!!!! Plus , what about emergency services where seconds make a huge difference !!!!!!!

I should preface by saying that I am not a resident who is reliant on ferry transportation for work or for access to services, and therefore must defer to the majority of locals who are dependant. Having said that, local ferries are part of Nova Scotia's charm, for heavens sake, not sweeping concrete byways. The degree of mechanical problems at Englishtown seem to be concurrent with the "new" ferry - the previous vessel was not out of service nearly as much. Thus, the problem would seem not to be with the existence of the service but a problem with the choices made leading to the construction of this vessel.
Further, the refrain from MacDonald and Gillis's song "Causeway Crossing" ("built for going away") is not romantic wistfulness. So-called permanent structures are part of the hollowing-out of rural communities in this Province and we really need to be speaking out about this.

The ferries are part of Cape Breton. They are a tourist attraction in themselves. A bridge would cost millions of dollars which we can ill afford.

There has been a ferry at Englishtown since 1870. It is a tourist attraction as well as a major employer. If someone proposed bringing in a business with a million dollar annual payroll, our elected representatives would be dancing for joy. Why, then, are they working so hard to rid the community of just such an employer so that some people won't have to drive around St. Ann's Bay on the brand new road? That seems like a bad bargain.

When I'm at work and visitors ask me where I'm from. I say Englishtown and they always say "Oh, where the ferry is." I like that and don't want to lose the service.
