Police call centres are the gateway to keeping our communities safe. When you need the police to come to your aid, you want the people sending them to know the place and area you're talking about.
Help us reach 1,000 signatures and show Police Scotland how important our 999 call centres are to our communities.
We are approaching the 1,000 threshold. Push this link out now to get us over the line.

I volunteer training medical students and sometimes use my native Doric tongue to teach them what they can expect from locals. They have time to ask me what I mean but in a heated situation a remote call handler does not. Local knowledge is crucial.

I have had first hand experience talking to a call handler in Glasgow who didn't have a clue where I was or what was the nearest police station to me. I think it's a disgrace that jobs will also be taken from highland and centralised

AS A FORMER POLICE OFFICE AND ONE WHO WORKED IN A CONTROL ROOM FOR SOME 3 YEAS i KNOW HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO HAVE LOCAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE AREA YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR. THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR LOCAL KNOWLEDGE AND MINUTES CAN COST LIVES ON OCCASIONS.

Must stay open for the sake of all in highlands and islands. Local knowledge is essential. Post codes in remote areas are next to useless and can cover a wide area, unlike towns and cities where they can identify property to within yards.

Our emergency services need to be local. How many disasters do we need. Ambulance service not able to find the correct Blackhillock, years ago - long before the accident near Stirling. Those in power choose not to learn from these lessons

Essential we keep our Call Centres LOCAL....I am a pensioner and it would certainly give me peace of mind....I WOULD FEEL VERY INSECURE WITHOUT A LOCAL CALL CENTRE
