The loss of this vital local service will put public safety at risk with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service themselves calculating that this closure will lead to longer response times for local residents.

I want to extend my thanks to everyone who has signed this petition and shown their support. The response from our community has been clear and demonstrates just how strongly people feel about this decision and the impact it will have. Please be assured that this campaign is far from over. We will continue to fight this decision and make sure that the voices of local residents are heard loud and clear. Tomorrow, I will be meeting firefighters at Yorkhill to discuss the situation directly with them. I will make sure to pass on the many messages of support that have been received from members of the community. I will also be writing to the Scottish Government’s Cabinet Secretary for Justice, Neil Gray MSP, to convey the strength of feeling across our area and the weight of support behind this campaign. After devastating fires in glasgow in recent years it is madness to even consider reducing this emergency service.
Shutting down a fire station that’s so crucial to a community because of cuts is like cutting your nose off because it’s cheaper to breathe through your mouth. Honestly after the fire at central they want to close stations utterly ridiculous.
It’s our local fire station in an area of high density Victorian tenements, delays in the event of a fire could well be disastrous.
This closure puts at risk the health and safety of local residents and is an example of the continual downgrading of civic services within the city of Glasgow by the current administration
I am a local resident and feel this fire station is vital to serving the community.The safety of the community may be at risk if the closure of the firse station goes ahead.
Closing down a local resource has the potential to put local public safety at risk.
Closing this fire station will increase response times in an area that is rapidly increasing in population and has many old tenement style housing. It would increase risk and decrease safety for the population.
