The 999 Call Centre in Aberdeen is essential for the people in North Scotland with the operators who know the region best.

I have recently resigned having spent eight years working within the Inverness Police Area Control Room - I know how important it is to retain the skills and knowledge locally and think the politicians and senior Police Scotland staff are making a serious error by closing ACR's.

It is essential to maintain an area call centre given the variation in place names and the wide rural areas within the same postcode.

How much proof does anyone need to know that central belt policies do not work outwith the central belt? Local knowledge is essential to the emergency services. What about dialect? Just as an example how many Blackhillocks are there? In an emergency who knows a post code? Is there even a post code for every location?

Not all policing services can or should be centralised...this is one that needs to stay local

It is only an idiot without any brain whatsoever who would even think to do it. Anyone outwith our area do not have the local knowledge, even understand our language, and this will lead without doubt to loss of lives and massive other problems if ever implimented. Get rid of the stupid idiots pushing for this move NOW before it is too late!!

Sad to see how the once proud and efficient force that served the community as Grampian Police has been destroyed to benefit the Central belt.

This is wrong. I have first hand experience of calling emergency services and despite naming common landmarks around me, I had an operator who had no idea where I was. I eventually said A90 and Stonehaven, she said she would send a police car and pass on the details, and they would know where to find me on a back road I didn't know the name of! I had no internet to google it! Shocking.... Keep things local!
