D.C.C. have begun a 45 day consultation period where they will be discussing their proposal to close care homes across North Devon and transfer care to the private sector.

Oakwell Care Centre is a 20 bedded care home in Bickington, North Devon. My grandmother has been a resident there for nearly two years now. She has severe vascular dementia and is often quite confused and upset. Nowhere has been able to meet her care needs quite like Oakwell has - the place and the staff are incredible. Continuity of care for patients with dementia is of paramount importance. My grandmother may have dementia but she has grown to know and love the other residents and staff at Oakwell and the thought of her, and others like her, being taken away from that is just too terrible to comprehend.

We must make D.C.C. aware of the people of North Devon's opinion regarding their proposal. Please sign the petition and spread the word via Facebook, Twitter, etc.
