The Madera/Mariposa Regional & Early Head Start is threatening to close our Head Start program and divert the funds to a program in Madera so they can give a few teachers there a raise. While we understand that all the teachers deserve a raise, we will not accept losing our Head Start program to fund that. The Board Of Education is meeting Thursday night in Madera at 5:30; please sign this so I can show the Board that our community wants our Head Start. Well educated kids turn into well-rounded adults that are assets to our community.

I honestly cannot stop staring at the screen and thinking about how fast this is moving because it feels like just a blink ago I was typing this up in my kitchen. It is wild to see everyone coming together so quickly when I was worried nobody would really notice what is happening to our little program.

Me and my son absolutely love this place. My son loves his school and the teachers. He looks forward to coming to school and playing with his new friends. They have such a good ciriculum for their age too. Losing this school for kids would be detrimental to these kids. Low income families here need this place. I know I do.
This community has a huge need for this! It would be tragic to lose it and put people out of work just to give a few others a raise??
We shouldn't have to lose our head start program to fund raises for teachers. There are so many young children that benefit from head start, its such a huge asset to our mountain community! I look forward to bringing my two kids to head start and I don't want to lose it. We have lost enough things in our community, don't let us lose this also.
Keep it open. I am a former Headstart employee and know the benefits of the program. It is way more than schooling.
Head Start is an asset to the mountain area which is in need of early childhood education for low income and special needs children. Without the Oakhurst Head Start the children of Eastern Madera would be under served.
I believe oakhurst needs to have its own county, and it's own funding. It's a very high tourist town and deserves the respect of its own county.
I am sure with some collaboration we can sustain enrollment. Please seek out Tom Wheeler's Eastern Madera County inter-agency collaborative.

Headstart is such a valueable program. I attended the one in Mariposa when I was younger and I still have memories and lessons learned that will follow me positively for a life time.
