All the children in Maury County are equal in everything except funding. While growth in Northern Maury County is a given, not everyone can afford to live in the new construction in that part of the county. It is time to be wise part our sending the new funds and the improvements to McDonald should be at the top of the list. All children have the capacity to excel when given the educational support they need! Renovate instead of building new is a viable option. Let's support this undertaking to offer a chance for McDonald to be renovated and available to the children who live in these neighborhoods that surround our downtown!

As a child I attended this school and spent summers on the playground and at playbook making items for gifting. We need to keep our neighborhood schools!

As a county commissioner, I will regret my vote to close this school for the rest of my life!! McDowell was purposely and willfully neglected and ignored. We all know where the money and biggest and best of schools are going! It’s sure not in Columbia or south or east—it’s the north and District 5 board rep who runs the show! Every school and every child in Maury County MATTERS, but you certainly can’t see that happening here. However, 2 brand new Battle Creek schools are located near his house and now wanting a $70 million dollar new Battle Creek HS to go with the other new multi million Battle Creek schools. $600 thousand alone to go to just athletics! Forget asking the parents, booster club, any kind of fundraising cause they get it all off very taxpayer in Maury County.

The above funny as Central but distant memory, used to be great building. Let’s save the Institute. McDowell definitely has the bones no new school could have, but with about 25% of what it would cost to build a new school, you could renovate McDowell with WiFi’s, virtual blackboards, bring into 2025 newness. And have THE most centrally located elementary school in our entire county, plus have a bigger surround space than any other elementary school in the county, could make a magnet school which would then turn into an enviable property, but enable 3/4ths of students to walk to school, rather than risk life to travel Nashville Highway to school for extra hr and a half a day, besides adding to the now unmanageable traffic already in place. About 10,000 houses are going in within 4 miles of McDowell within the next 2 yrs, so someone needs to plan for our growth not pat those on back in far reaches of county who have already seen the spill of Wmson County... Help the ones who built this county 120 yrs ago...Past time we better what we already have.

A centrally located school such as McDowell Elementary is needed in our downtown area. Please use the tax money that was promised us, and the Covid relief funds that are coming, to revitalize it!
