Dear friends of SAVE MARINA BAY
Whilst campaigning vigorously to prevent the over-development of Marina Bay we have also been making representations to the planning department. We believed that Ocean Village Investments Limited did not comply with the regulations as to notice periods which we felt was unfair and gave us less time to prepare our opposition to the proposed development than we were entitled to. Here is an extract from an email we have received this afternoon from the planning department:-
"The legal advice that we have received is that the application should not be entertained due to a failure to fully comply with section 19(4) of the Town Planning Act. Consequently we have advised the applicant that the current application must be withdrawn and that a new application should be submitted."
So we now have to await the resubmission. Any person wishing to make representations will need to do so during the appropriate public participation period for the new application when submitted. We do not know when that will be but rest assured that we will be ready and waiting for it when it arrives. The objections you have made will need to be resubmitted at the appropriate time so please save them. We will advise you when we need to take further action.
Your Team will work tirelessly in the background until we have a new date.

there has to be a limit to all this indiscriminate building, 5 storeys??is that even legal beside the airport??
Marina bay/ocean village is overcrowded now. Please think about the polution that all those extra places makes. There are no roads and no carparks. Marina bay can't take anymore cars people or apartments. Overcrowding will not improve anything....
Marina bay should be protected. They already destroyed half by placing the monstrosity of sunborn in front of it, please dont kill off the last of the pretty marina!!!!!
the government should be the renovation of the old town plenty of empty old properties up there. restoring these properies would also keep some original charactor to the place
Why? Not sure about the proposal. Buildings will be a fifth of a km away. yes - thats 200m!! Investment not needed. Its fine. I live and have a boat moored there. Of course it would spoil views - across to spain through the marina. Its not just about seeing boats… Investment for the rich few foreigners again. Maybe it would work - just like the Sunborn and I don't see that turning a profit...
We must not loose such a beautiful rea. It is a great asset for Gibraltar for both locals and tourists
please don't ruin this area which is so attractive to visitors and locals alike. Kill the golden goose so some developer can make a quick buck,

This is a gross over-development that damages the long term ambiance of the marina by a greedy developer with no long term commitment to the quality of life of residents. Developer has a proven track record (vide casino at Ocean Village) of over development. Concept is completely inappropriate for the location.
