Gibraltar town centre to be full of tall office blocks & blocks of flats?

The proposed development at the Amar’s Building includes:
- An 8-story structure, towering over the majority of surrounding buildings, which are typically 3 to 5 stories high.
- A design completely out of place with the traditional architecture of the area.
- A precedent for further high-rise developments, potentially altering the character of the town centre and opening the door to more modern, oversized buildings within the city walls.

I just looked at the screen and saw we actually hit one hundred signatures which is honestly kind of wild because I was worried nobody else cared about that old bakery site as much as I did. It is a relief to know there are others who do not want our town centre turning into just another row of giant glass boxes.

This development is too high for the local area and will reduce key vehicle access to residents of College lane and main street. The light lost from the increased height will have a great impact on the local surrounding properties.
This has already been done to me with planning approval to block up my kitchen window so another can enjoy the property more with planning. I live in an over 300 year old property in the town, I was told I have no right to light or to protect my building which has heritage value!
I firmly oppose the construction of substandard buildings. -Preservation of the historic landscape -Infringement of neighbouring rights to sunlight -Negative impact on people's life -Loss of stopping spaces and asesses This proposal has no positive effect on the neighbourhood.
Tourists visit Gibraltar due to its unique charm & history, as do those who decide to move here & call it home. If tall, modern buildings keep being built, Gibraltar won't be any different to any other modern city centre. It will be ruined, and for what? So a few select few can make their fortune!!
Yes there is a need for progress, but inside the historical walls, we should take the Paris model and ensure all buildings k3ep the soul of the inner city. Any architecture that would break this should not be allowed. 8 stories is just too high.
Sick and tired of constructions. Our lungs are filled with cement dust. Enough now

Enough high rise please! We are being starved of fresh air, sunshine and creating wind tunnels! It's time to realise that the future of Gibraltar and its quirkiness is sadly disappearing.
