Final supporters
I am writing this because I think Malik is getting railroaded by Taylor High School. At Taylor High School on Tuesday morning there was an incident where my grandson Malik had an incident with a boy named Damion. Not sure how to spell his name. The little kid has been messing with Malik since school started. Anyway he was messing with Malik and he pushed Malik and Malik hit him and got suspended for hitting him. Malik was in the wrong for hitting him and the Principle Ms Daniella Ogundare is wanting to send Malik to alternative school for 45 days. Malik has never been in trouble and Damion’s parents said he probably needed to be hit. Malik has never ever been in trouble at school but Damion has been messing with him since school started and Malik just reached his boiling point. I am going to get a petition going and I need to get as many people that can sign it. This is not about black and white it is about the measures the school or rather the principals the Assistant Principle is trying to take. I will be going from house to house tomorrow to get a petition signed so if you can help me or Malik or Mark, Sr it would be greatly appreciated. Just inbox box me. On another note the little boy was in the football locker room and he does not play football so why was he in there?Thanks

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have stepped up to help Malik. We are nearly at one hundred signatures and I truly cannot believe the kindness you have shown a family you barely know. If you can send this link to just a few people today it would mean the world to us while we try to get the school to listen.

Both students should have been suspended for a couple of days. That's how it was done in the old days and my generation seemed to turn out OK as adults. Shipping him to the TOC is excessive and unnecessary. Please reconsider the 45 day punishment at the TOC to 0 days.
I know this family very well and they all their kids the right way this punishment is wrong by all means and it breaks my heart to see the school district only punishing one kid instead of both kids. Bullying is a serious issue and the school or school districts are not doing what it right.
In my limited interactions with Malik, he seems to be an intelligent, thoughtful, hardworking young man. While I am not aware of the specifics of this incident, 45 days in alternative school seems very harsh for a fight, particularly if it was indeed instigated by another student.
I hate that I didn't take a stance when this happened to my son when he was in high school. Almost the same exact scenario defending himself but not as harsh of a punishment. Therefore if it happened yrs ago to my son and this type of punishment is still going on.....UHM NEED I SAY MORE!
This is a harsh treatment and should be considered triple jeopardy because he was suspended from school kicked off the team and is being sent to an alternative school for 45 days. We need to reevaluate how we disipline our students.

For someone that has not been a trouble maker in school and has been bullied all through the school the punishment is way to severe . Bullying must be stopped . Schools need to see bullying as very serious and address people that are doing the bullying , not those that are being bullied
