Religion should not be imposed upon students in a public school. Mr. Tyree did the right thing in allowing students the right to leave if they so chose. The school is wrong in allowing Christian proselytizing in an all-school assembly.

My son is distraught that his favorite teacher, Mr. Tyree, may lose his job over this unfortunate situation, as are many more students. This speaks volumes to me and demonstrates that other disciplinary actions should be used rather than Mr. Tyree being fired.

He did the right thing, religious messages are not meant to be brought into public schools...paid for by tax payers. If you want a religious element to your child's education send them to a private school, but don't fire the best of your teachers for knowing the law.

Mr. Tyree is one of the kindest and caring person I know, he cared for his students and anyone who needed to be cared for. He loved everyone, no matter what your race, religion, culture, family tree, etc. A loving person like this does not deserve to be fired.

I was not at the show, but as a past Dunbar PTO President I know him to be an excellent teacher. From the reading of other comments and and talking to parents Mr Tyree overreacted and made a mistake, which we are all guilty from time to time. I support Mr Tyree.

This teacher deserves to be recommended for recognizing student's discomfort, who were not Christian . However, options for those specific students should have been discussed prior to the event. This would have been a better way to handle an awkward situation.

I’m still mad about this. Brabrand is incompetent and gone. Give the man his job back.

He did do the right thing so no one would get offended.
