Jamie Smith is a 22-year old young man born in Danville, IL raised in North Carolina and his freedom was snatched from him after receiving a second chance. Now he is facing 8 years in prison after being bullied by his teammates and defending himself. Jamie had cried out for help and reached out to those in authority before the incident but NOTHING was done. It is now "Take Action Time". It's time to push one young man's story to the fore front and hold all those involved, accountable for their actions or lack there of. It is time to make people aware of what really happened to Jamie Smith.

The current momentum has moved this case into the view of legal advocates who are now reviewing the file. We are preparing a formal brief for the Governor's office to address the documented negligence in this incident.

We have reached one hundred signatures which allows us to request a formal meeting with the Governor's office. I am currently finalizing the delivery packet that includes the case summary and our petition data. My legal advisor is reviewing the cover letter before we submit it to the administration.

He was standing up and defending himself when noone else would he shouldn't have to serve jail time when he asked for help and no one would do anything
i was bullied when i was at school totured and i told teachers and they did nothing i got tired if going home crying and wondering why it affected me so bad to where i was angry and lashing out at my fam i finally stood up for myself and fought back it was my last resort no one deserved to feel scared at school or anywhere
I've known Jamie since he was 11. He was raised by a good caring mother who kept close tabs on her boys. He excelled in school and was a great athlete. He was taught right from wrong. He is not a thug. I do believe there is more to this story than we heard.
He is an awesome young man. That had big dreams just picked the wrong school to attend. He should get time served and a plane ticket back home. Self defensive is NOT a crime!
Being bullied is a serious problem in this world. Authorities needt to act faster when someone says there being bullied . it doesn't. make any sense for them to wait until something happens then charge the wrong one. In Jesus name Amen.
Free Him . No one should be behind bars when being the victim.

Lord, please help this young man. He asked for help and they ignored him. Now that he had to protect himself now he is behind bars. People need to stop bullying people. I pray this story gets into the right hands so some justice can be done...
