‘We the undersigned call upon Leeds City Council to return Kirklees Knoll, Farsley to the Green Belt (Leeds City Council removed this land from the Green Belt in the late 1990s as part of their Unitary Development Plan, despite strong local objections). The Government have now presented the Council with an opportunity though the preparation of the Local Development Plan to return this land to the Green Belt. We call on Leeds City Council not to miss this opportunity as we believe development of Kirklees Knoll would be totally unsustainable, unacceptable and bring the already overloaded infrastructure to breaking point.’

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people care about the future of Kirklees Knoll. This momentum belongs entirely to the community and I am just humbled to be a small part of it.

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many of you have stepped up to protect Kirklees Knoll. We are nearing a significant milestone that might just catch the attention of the council if we keep this momentum going. This is entirely your doing and I am just lucky to be part of such a dedicated group.

I truly did not expect to see the count hit a hundred people so quickly. It feels surreal to know so many of you care about protecting this land just as much as I do. This is your energy and your commitment that brought us to this point because I certainly did not expect this level of response.

Access out of this development to either a left turn only onto a 60mph ring road or into a pinch point in Rodley! 500+ cars is not manageable!

House builders CANNOT be allowed to get away with this - it would make a mockery of a plan-led system, of localism, of community engagement and of elected councillors having an input.
Once the greenbelt is gone its gone forever. Leeds council seriously need to rethink this, we have plenty of brownfield sites sitting empty right now!
The traffic round here is already a nightmare at 8am. Adding hundreds more houses is just mental, the roads literally cant take it anymore.
Simply, enough is enough!

Building on greenbelt land should be only permitted when all other sources of land supply have been used. Previously developed land should also be used and all the thousands of empty homes also brought back into use. More innovative ways to provide housing that is truly affordable, not the current model being offered which provides only financial benefits to the builders not people who are in genuine housing need. The builders will have no interest in brownfield sites to build on they are already making requests for greenbelt land to be released early. To provide affordable housing is the reason they use to bend the planning rules. People in need of homes that are affordable to them whether to rent or buy will still be left out in the cold.
