Dare Home Health and Hospice has been providing healthcare in the homes of Dare County residents for almost 30 years. In Dec. 2020 the County Commissioners were asked to explore any and all solutions to help bolster the agency, after it had lost nurses to both retirement and because of the pandemic, so that it could regain a strong footing once again in the community. The commissioners hired a lawyer who completed a review of the agency and that resulted in proposals for and bidding on Home Health and Hospice by outside organizations. BrightSpring Health - a large, for profit, healthcare entity based in Kentucky, has submitted a bid far outside the fair market value of the agency.
Please help save the Home Health and Hospice agency and keep it under county control. We advocate for the necessary changes to be made within the agency, rather than it being sold to this portfolio company of global investment and private equity firm who will put profit over people.
Lets keep the health and wellbeing of Dare County residents a local priority!

Worked for hospital for 38 yrs. When it was sold, it was a nightmare for the community. New owner closed most services, leaving everyone with much longer distance for serviced. LOVE OBX. Please don't let this happen.
Please keep hospice local. We just called on them on a Sat this past weekend. By 4pm we had hospital bed oxygen and meds needed for comfort. And our nurse is amazing with care, comfort and support for all!!!! We are so blessed to have this program currently in line!
They ( home health care angel, Dianne) took wonderful, loving care of my mother, Veronica for years while she was entering and in the midst of her early Alzheimers until I moved here permanently. Is it broken? Fix it! If not, leave this service alone.
Knowing that there are changes that can be made to decrease the financial loss, keeping the agency private and local is a no-brainer! How much $$ do the Commissioners want to put on the loss of quality care for our elderly neighbors!
This critical service should not be privatized. We need an affordable solution for our citizens. And we need to protect the employees by keeping them as county employees with the benefits and pensions that they already earned.
Call your governors , senators, congressmen, public health officials, and the media. Fight this greed back from our sacred institution. Hospice cannot and will not go down the same lath that the Skilled Nursing Facilities went into the hands of Wall Street pirates and non-healthcare scoundrels.
This agency provided an important service to my family when our mom was ill.

I think the Comissoners should hire a Medical person(s) to evaluate WHY Home Health & Hospice is unsuccessful with keeping staff once they are hired. We need Home Health and especially Hospice services in our community.
