The Community Free Clinic and our Cabarrus County healthcare safety net are at serious risk of losing sustainability due to proposed funding cuts to NC HealthNet funding in the Governor's proposed budget for SFY 2015-16. These cuts would mean NO continued support of our county's (along with MANY other NC counties') healthcare safety net effective 06/30/2015 for the low income uninsured residents diagnosed with chronic health conditions.
This would mean NO access to needed healthcare services, prescribed medications, and no medical homes for this vulnerable population EXCEPT our local emergency departments.
YOUR ACTION IS NEEDED AND REQUESTED to advocate for NO HealthNet funding cuts in our NC legislature.

It is bad enough that North Carolina has chosen not to expand Medicaid. The proposed cuts are like declaring war on the uninsured.
Former clinic volunteer. Denying this type of care means unnecessary visits to the ER and higher costs for all NC residents.
Without Healh Net funding, thousands of people will go without medical care, therefore flooding our emergency rooms for immediate care with no continuity of care thereafter. Is that really what we want for people in our State?
Please protect access to care for people who are so vulnerable to risks brought on by no access to care. It truly can be the difference between being productive and self-sufficient vs. being dependent on others. Thank you for your support of HealthNet funding. Say NO to the NC HealthNet Funding Cut!
Cutting the funding is being penny wise and pound foolish. The health care return on the dollar through the Free Clinic system is much more efficient than using the Emergency Department and allows patients to have a medical home.
Please don't cut this critical funding. All that will happen is that this vulnerable population will start using the ER as their primary physician again!!!

Free Clinics are essential to the health & healthcare of the people of NC that remain uninsured. Without the free clinics in NC, many of our citizens will be WITHOUT health care. PLease KEEP the free clinics funded. Prevention & early intervention is less expensive than trying to treat chronic, long term medical issues. Thank you.
