Haslemere Town Council is very concerned that Waverley Borough Council is intending to close the public toilets in the High St carpark to make way for more parking spaces.
We are currently making representations to WBC to try and keep this well used facility open on behalf of local residents but we need your help. Although we know they are well used and vital to many residents, by signing this petition you give further weight to our argument.

These toilets are essential and any town of our size should have some public toilets. I have used them frequently. The town is being promoted as a gateway to the South Downs National Park and trying to attract tourists - surely we need public toilets.
The public toilets are essential for the elderly caught short, the young learning to use toilets not the gutter and the rest of the population. Especially as the town mainly has small shops and nowhere the public has the right to walk into to use the toilets.
I am a double above Knee amputee. So confined to a wheel chair. I regularly use the Toilets in Haslemere High Street. There are no other disabled facilities with in the town. This is another example of discrimination against the disabled residence.
There will always be another parking space but where else will visitors find a public toilet in the town? It would appear that the desire to raise even more parking income is blinding the Borough Council to their need to provide this important public facility.
Toilets are not a luxury they are an essential facility. Why any council would think it helpful to close public toilets is hard to understand. I have Crohns and these toilets have saved me from potential embarrassment and distress on several occasions.
As a parent, it's been a blessing to have these facilities, I have used these many times.
thats not fair to the lgbtq+ people too who also need toilet.
