We all received a letter last week from Godstone Village School informing us of the change of name and changes to the school uniform. There was no consultation around the changes to the school uniform with parents or careers. I am not clear as to why the school uniform needs to be completely changed and concerned around the finical implications this will have on families.

What should a school consider when developing or amending its uniform policy?

We strongly recommend that in setting its uniform/appearance policy the governing body:

§ consider the timeframe for introducing a new uniform policy or amending an existing one;

§ take into account the views of parents and pupils on significant changes to school uniform policy;

§ consider the cost, the available supply sources and year round availability of the proposed uniform to ensure

Section 88 of the Education and Inspections Act 2006 and Education (Independent School Standards) (England) Regulations 2010.

Godstone Village School have said they have had little response from parents. Please sign this petition if you oppose to the changes to school uniform. This will provide the school with a true reflection of the number of parents and careers opposing the changes. It will be sent to the school, school governors, local councillors and the Director of Children's Services for Surry.
