FILM2801: Moving Image is the only production course that Carleton offers to Film Studies and they are cancelling it next year. If you're in Film Studies because you want and have a passion for creating films or telling stories, this course is perfect for that. The course offers a hands-on approach to film, giving students the opportunity to work with cameras and editing. At the end of next term, the current students will get a chance to showcase 10-minute documentaries that have been in the works over the course of the year. Unfortunately, nobody will be able to take this course next year because the faculty is cancelling it. If you wish to take this course and get the experience, please sign this petition, and save FILM2801.

Reaching this level of support honestly leaves me drained but encouraged. It proves that the value of this course is not just in my head and that my frustration is shared by so many of you.

I love theory, but I struggled for years working as a PA, wanting to make movies and collaborate with students/friends at school..but CU has never had a production component. Have at least one course, come on!

Definitely one of the best courses I've taken so far at Carleton and also the most useful. It not only provides students with hands-on experience but also delves into documentaries in a more meaningful and insightful way than the average course. Should be a full year course and open to students who want to pursue it in the future!

Keeping this class will depict whether or not I continue my studies here. I want to learn as much hands on production skills as I can! My love for film stems from my hopes in creating documentaries in the future. You must keep this class so that students may indulge in all areas of film!

Ending a course that promotes the application of what the students are learning is missing the point of furthering one's education at a university. Application is one of the main components to learning, and some find it easier to learn/understand by applying themselves.

I am a film student at uOttawa and if this had been a course given at Carleton when I first enrolled I would have chosen Carelton hands down.

What good is theory without a learning environment to practice it in?
