The Borough Council has formally decided to keep the Wells Centre open for our community. This accomplishment is a direct result of the collective pressure you applied throughout the consultation process. We must remain vigilant to ensure this commitment is honored in the years ahead.

The Wells Centre is at the heart of life for the Wells Estate Residents of all ages – from the wide variety of services provided for senior citizens who use the Centre to stay active to the families whose children attend pre-school classes and other activities.
Now this fantastic Community resource is under threat from the Residents` Association-run Borough Council. Blaming the need to make savings in their budget, they have entered into public consultation about the future of the Wells Centre and there is a strong chance that they will seek to close it down.
We believe there are plenty of other areas that the Council could save money without closing such a popular and valuable public resource. Councillors should not seek to balance the books by closing a centre that supports the needs of an entire community.
Please sign our petition, make your voice heard and make the Council listen to the needs of its residents for a change!

The petition to save the Wells Centre has officially surpassed one hundred signatures. This level of engagement confirms the importance of this facility to our residents.

I've used the centre for the past 11 years at least twice a week for Tai Chi and other activities, for meals, the hairdressers and just to socialise. I have lots of friends who use it too and it would deprive lots of people of a social outlet should it be closed.
15 year old boy who lives on the wells. Disgusted at the news of the closure of the centre that meant so much to our village. I went to nursery there and our neighbours wedding reception was held there. How they can close it is beyond me?
The centre is an essential resource that is a focal point for many activities for residents who are unable go elsewhere. To close it would be tantamount to a prison sentence for many elderly residents who would become isolated and lonely
Save the money elsewhere leave this community resource alone. The Wells and Langley Vale have no Xmas lights of flowers with roundabouts, hanging baskets etc, Look at the budget for these-Epsom, Ewell, Stoneleigh, Ewell by pass, leave us with something.
The Wells community centre is the cornerstone of our community. Our daughter attended the preschool and frequently uses the park and regularly attends classes. It has also been invaluable to my mother-in-law who uses it weekly. Save the Centre!!!
Last chance to save the only civic building in the Wells. The council wants to turn it into 23 flats - people got to live somewhere for sure, but there needs to be more than flats and houses to make a community, surely? They don't even have a pub up there. Consultation ends 20th Feb 2020 - that's very soon. It may be productive to investigate further sources of income such as renting the rooms to add activities (such as Yoga and Pilates) that would be of interest to the community and outsiders. A little investigation and initiative could go a long way here!
