Last chance to save the only civic building in the Wells.
The council wants to turn it into 23 flats - people got to live somewhere for sure, but there needs to be more than flats and houses to make a community, surely? They don't even have a pub up there.
Consultation ends 20th Feb 2020 - that's very soon.

I move to the Wells estate in about 1983, when the old centre was still standing. Much of my children's grwoing up was based around the centre - sunday school, cubs and brownies etc. What facilities will there in future for the young of the Wells Community?

This closure was devastating for the community. My Down’s syndrome sister used the centre and now she has to go elsewhere.

The Wells centre was the heart of the community, pre-school, Brownies and Guides. Older people meeting up and having some social time in what can be a lonely time. Parties and hairdressers for use by the community. Children's play area all going to be demolished for what? Oh yes more social housing. Why ruin a good area with more unwanted housing?!

Leave well alone, that centre has been there for years, I'm 80 and it's been great for all who have used it over the years, I'm sure if you put your heads together you could find some where else. Take another look at your books, and leave well alone

My family have used the Wells centre for years. It makes a wonderful community and not just for the Wells residents, but people from all over Epsom and Ewell.

It is disgraceful this is even being considered. After spending the money to build a needed purpose built centre that was highly successful the council now want to tear it down without any local support. This is a misuse of public funds.

This centre was the hub of our community for the young and the old, it is much missed and should be opened again.

This morning I wanted to take my child to the Wells as I discovered an article in the local magazine about the history of Epsom Salts, which are world famous. If that was in America, that place would have been a huge booming business for visitors and giving jobs to proud locals. However, I can’t find a telephone number and the information online says it’s closing? Relocating to Longmead Estate? Not happening. That’s the last place I’d be going in Epsom. Why not offer local businesses a plan to open a children attraction/ cafe with interactive play centre to learn about the salts or something? Is UK really devoid of any ability to think flexibly?

My wife and I are in the process of moving to the Wells Estate. Our first child is due this October and one of the main lures of the area was the Wells Centre, with the children's playground, preeschool and community events on offer. To close this down when it is obviously very popular would be a disaster and indicative of poor decision making and planning by the council.

Although we no longer live in Epsom we lived on the Well's Estate for over twenty years, the place is a real community asset to many people locally who would otherwise have no access to such facilities. Are you looking to save money or do you have the best in of the Wells Comm at heart, both our younger daughters went too pre school there.A place that should be kept for the community. Councillors please, ease think again, if you take away this amenity you are further destroying a community facility that is appreciated and enjoyed by many locals.

This centre provides so much for the well being of all ages . Absolute disgrace to close it down. Thought the RA were supposed to be on the side of us residents, I'll never vote for them again
