We are opposed to the attempts to move G Hunters Butchers (more commonly known as Bobs) on Kells lane in order to expand the local Nisa. We don't want to lose another butchers and we are concerned at the negative impact on local businesses. We call on the council and the landlord to work with us to find a way to save this hub of local shops.

I have been spending hours talking to the neighbors who rely on Bob for their weekly shop and the stories about his kindness remind me why this place is worth fighting for. The shop owners are feeling the pressure but your messages have given them a much needed lift during this uncertainty. I am currently reaching out to the council to demand a transparent plan for the future of our street.

Seeing one hundred people come together to protect Bob's reminds me why this shop is the heart of our street. It feels surreal to hit this milestone so quickly when I was worried no one else felt the same way about losing our butcher.

After the recent loss of The Joint on Durham Road due to the landlord upping the rent to a level that was cost prohibitive, the last thing we need is to lose our last remaining butcher shop to make way for a larger convenience store.

A family run, extremely popular butchers will be a great loss to the community of Low Fell. Not only that, but the knock on effect on other businesses will be detrimental. Why should 40 years of customer service, loyalty to the community and great quality butchery on Kells Lane go?

We don't need another large super market in Gateshead, and also the amount of traffic it will cause on a very small road near to a school is very worrying. I also think we should be supporting our small businesses instead of pushing them out. I think its a bad idea.

Shame on you Nisa, my family has been using Bob's butchers for three generations and totally disgusted that a certain mans greed will end this. As a family we don't eat meat from anywhere else so I'm furious this is being allowed to happen.

Shopped there regularly when we lived in Low Fell in the 70s , 'saved my bacon' many a time' obviously survived on the quality of the meat and knowledgeable, helpful staff. In the present climate an independent butcher is by far the safer option.

We do not need a Nisa expansion-these types of stores are ten a penny-a local butcher is not however-I only buy my meat from local butchers and its becomming more and more difficult to find one in the Low Fell area-its an absolute disgrace that this is even being considered.

Not really saying much for the butchers across the road there are you!! Just to make it clear hunters butchers do not want to close they would love to reopen else where (as they have done before) but have no option to as rental prices are to high anywhere else and it takes a lot of work to make a shop fit for a "5*" butchers!! Oh yes and hunters butchers were the only butchers in Gateshead to have 5*'s so maybe thats why people are sorry to see them go!!!
