Not really saying much for the butchers across the road there are you!!
Just to make it clear hunters butchers do not want to close they would love to reopen else where (as they have done before) but have no option to as rental prices are to high anywhere else and it takes a lot of work to make a shop fit for a "5*" butchers!! Oh yes and hunters butchers were the only butchers in Gateshead to have 5*'s so maybe thats why people are sorry to see them go!!!

yeah would have worked for both, new customers for both, nisa is independent also, not a chain like people think, local lad whos been here a long time, and been as reasonable as he can to bob, hes just trying to look after his business in these hard times for small shops, bob would have had new up to date shop with in, attracting new, and a younger generation

That's an interesting one - I'd have thought that would have been a win/win outcome.

G Hunters is the best quality butchers in the area, I have been a customer for 35 years and sill go there regularly having moved out of the immediate area. I would not go anywhere else for my fresh meat.

Unfortunately 'change of use' doesn't normally apply if you just change the type of shop. However, as it is in a conservation area they might need permission to change the shop frontage. I'll keep an eye on the planning portal.

I assume there would need to be a change of use planning application. Can we not object to that as well?

Bob's is probably a victim of its own success. The queues outside on a Saturday morning must have made Steve Barratt wonder what he had to do..... Close it down and take the customers maybe?? Unfortunately he reckoned without the loyalty of Bob's customers. This is more likely to lose his business than gain any.
Fed up with little shops being pushed out
