The council confirmed that our parking plan for Baillieston Main Street is officially moving forward. This win belongs to every one of you who spoke up for our local shops. Please keep shopping locally to show them that this change was the right move.

Final supporters
This is a petition to Glasgow City Council to request that there be a 30 minute period of free parking on Baillieston Main Street, then a small charge of no more than 50p for a further 30 minutes. In addition we would request there is a "no return within 2 hour policy".
We have requested the above so customers are not put off, or penalised for using Baillieston Main Street and supporting small locally owned businesses.
We request that businesses which currently survive by operating a home delivery service be exempt from these charges, or at least be allowed to return within the 2 hour period to collect orders.
We have requested that delivery drivers be exempt, as it is an integral, and essential, part of many businesses. Such a major handicap would inevitably results in numerous job losses and/or business closures.

Agree that there were issues with the way drivers parked in inappropriate manner in and around Main Street. This should be tackled in some way, however parking charges are a step too far and will adversely impact on local businesses.
I live on Glasgow road across from track, if you are going to be putting parking fees on the main street what is going to happen with them all parking in our streets where we have our cars. It's bad enough with the offices across as tesco. I do not think it is a good idea atall!!!!
I own a business on this main Street and fear greatly the consequences of this. I agree that the main street is a hazard at present with parking but surely the answer would be to provide a public car park.
Baillieston Main Street isn't brilliant but it's all we have for local shops. People will just go to supermarkets where parking is free instead of supporting local businesses, it's a disgrace that people should pay for parking in the first place, this petition should not even be necessary!!
As a business owner on the street there needs to be freedom to pop in and out so 30 mins free will prevent all day parking but keep business alive. We were asked about a year ago What we wanted but feel like we are not being heard.
make use of redundant police station and make a car park for shoppers problem solved
When businesses close in an area it usually results in the steady decline of the area. This then effects house prices, feel good factor in the community and in some cases depression. That is why I support this petition.

This is shocking I work in the public library and we have lots of weekly events for members of the public which can last over an hour. As we are one of your arms length organisation you should be interested in how this will impact our service
