Currently there is no obvious parking for Gigi's with most of our customers just parking on the street. This causes congestion and making this currently busy road to become somewhat dangerous, for drivers and pedestrians.
Our local residents are always complaining about people parking in front of driveways, calling the police to get them moved and therefore just wasting everyone's time and tax payers money.
We have applied to the council for permission to take this piece of land, to which we were met with a response that it was 'valuable green space in Bonnyrigg'. This confuses us as we look at this area everyday and we see nobody using this space at all. It's sometimes vandalised and collects litter in it's current state.
We would propose to redevelop the site to make a 13 space car park but we shall maintain it with trees and shrubs. We are confident we would be able to make the area look 10 times better than it's current state.
To try and restrict unauthorised use of the car park we would be prepared to fit a barrier, which would deter people parking their car there and hopping on the bus. This barrier would open and close in relation to our opening hours.
Please help us in our cause to win this case against Midlothian Council as we feel in this case they are overseeing the safety and practicality aspects and reverting to policies that are illogical.
Thank you for your time.

Agree with your suggestion for car park i would visit more often if parking was available.Food is great shame nowhere to park car.My mum is disabled so normaly park on street with blue badge displayed.
as i live next door and the proposed car park is my view, i think its great idea. it will bring an end to cars being parked illegally and stupidly obstructing other road users
i would love to know how they can call it green space when it is mostly paved. If you were to have a padlock on the barrier which was available to customers on entry that would mean it could not be abused at all. see sense midlothian, at least that space would be serving a purpose and not just lying derelict
Thi has been a long time coming as far as I'm concerned. There have been many accidents and near misses since Gigi opened. The council should appreciate what they are now trying to achieve if no for the wasted bit of space but the public safety.
I support this proposal. Gigi's is an asset to Bonnyrigg, and the proposed area is currently poorly maintained and tends to collect rubbish and dog fouling. This proposal would ease congestion and tensions with local residents.
Badly needed to allow clients to use local services
On street parking has been a nightmare because of people going to the restaurant. Especially for people who live in the nearby streets while young children. It could really benefit from parking.

Used to go to Gigi's regularly but have been put off since having to park on the local roads. Pretty sure the local residents would appreciate being able to get parking space in their own streets rather than having to put up with Gigi patrons taking up the spaces round about the estates as well
