After speaking with the City of Corona representatives it has become clear that the San Ramon gate violates City ordinances which do not allow gates on public property. This gate was placed on San Ramon many years ago when Green River Road was one lane going each way.
It was placed there to stop commuters who would come up off Green River on Canyon Crest, Oakridge Drive and Circle around to Dominguez Ranch road to avoid traffic. The fact is that times have changed; the original purpose of this gate is obsolete.
Open access to Public Roads is essential and an overriding fact why this gate needs to be removed; there are hundreds of home owners and residents in Sierra Del Oro inconvenienced by this gate. Not to mention the wasted time and gasoline when residents are forced to drive 2-3 extra miles each way to and from work, school etc. The increased traffic jam on Green River Road has not only created an inconvenience but is dangerous for pedestrians crossing the street.

The city officials ignore us because they think we will eventually go away. This momentum proves that we are done asking nicely for the simple access we are owed.

I live in Sierra Peak and work in the Greenriver Prominade. It takes me 30 minutes to go 1.5 miles.
The gate was open briefly during 2015 enabling us to travel to and from our home in Sierra Peak. This save us time daily, and will also help residents on the west side of the gate to travel quickly to Ralphs or to Serfas Club Drive and east on 91. OPEN THE GATE!
I live in Sierra Peak and pay for my gate. Before that I lived in Sierra Del Oro for over 25 years on various streets I have also thought that the gate is a safety issue and blocks an escape areas if a fire were to happenin the hills.. If there is not an ordinance allowing this gate on a public street/ why is it still in place and why do we need a petition to take it down. Remove the gate.
Our biggest concern is one of safety; because of the locked gate, there is only one way out of our community for thousands of residents. In the event of an emergency, we need every viable option for exit, and waiting for the gate to be unlocked in the event of an exigent situation could be deadly.
for the benefit of few many are suffering, that is not right. Our tax dollars help maintain and support these roads we "all" deserve the benefits.
Leave the gate open!!!!
Gate needs to open. It's a public street. I can not utilize the School Bus services to Cesar Chavez in the morning because I would have to fight traffic on Green River to get my children to the bus stop on San Ramon side. The bus stop is further down on the road on the other side of the GATE and it's not accessible for parents to drop of their children for the Bus. Other issues are safety for our community and the ability to have other options to leave in general.

We bought a home in Sierra Peak and to have a public road have a gate is illegal. We pay taxes to maintain that road and we are not able to use it. I pay steep HOAs to live in a gated community, but our HOA takes full responsibility of our roads unlike public roads that we pay for through taxes.
