We bought a home in Sierra Peak and to have a public road have a gate is illegal. We pay taxes to maintain that road and we are not able to use it. I pay steep HOAs to live in a gated community, but our HOA takes full responsibility of our roads unlike public roads that we pay for through taxes.

Gate needs to open. It's a public street. I can not utilize the School Bus services to Cesar Chavez in the morning because I would have to fight traffic on Green River to get my children to the bus stop on San Ramon side. The bus stop is further down on the road on the other side of the GATE and it's not accessible for parents to drop of their children for the Bus. Other issues are safety for our community and the ability to have other options to leave in general.

I live in Sierra Peak and work in the Greenriver Prominade. It takes me 30 minutes to go 1.5 miles.

I moved to Sierra Peak and incurred the increased cost of living to alleviate my long commute to pick up my child at a hallway drop off point of Starbucks at Greenriver for her to attend school in Corona. With the change in lanes along Greenriver making all lanes to enter 91 west, it now takes me 45 minutes to go 2.2 miles to pick her up. With the gate open it would save not only time, but gas and frustration.
My other children go to Pivot Charter school on Greenriver, again the gate at San Ramon being open would alleviate that commute.
With the recent canyon fire, had the fire began along Oakridge, the fire department may not have been able to open the gate in time for residents to evacuate safely.
There is no reason a gate should be blocking a public road. This is clearly a violation of Public and Fire Safety Ordinaces.

We have one way out of our neighborhood. IT is not right to block public streets.

Gates on public streets are in violation with city codes. As others said, a petition should not be needed but may help.

If this violates city ordinances why does it take a petition?
Can any voter sign the petition?

with the new traffic light at palisades, and the heavy traffic in the morning this gate should be opened to help the residence to ease the traffic.

This gate has been in full blown violation of both city and state ordinance for a good 15+ years. Many failed attempts have been made to open this pathway. This is class action material!
