Currently there are only two safe crosswalks with a stoplight at the far end of Shroyer Rd in Kettering and Dayton. One of the crosswalks is at E Dorothy Lane in Kettering and the other is at Patterson Rd in Dayton. There is a cross walk near Dairy Queen closer to Patterson Rd but it has no stop sign and cars often fly through with drivers paying little attention to pedestrians. (*Petitioners want the Dairy Queen crosswalk to be better enforced.)

Shroyer Rd is very active with a speed limit of 35 mph. There are many individuals and families who are part of the Oakwood/ Dayton community who live on the east side of Shroyer Rd and have to deal with the traffic on a daily basis. And as we all know this is a walking community. Oakwood too is a community where children walk to school and are not bused. Children often cross Shroyer Rd to attend Lange Kindergarten (bused from Smith), Smith Elementary, Oakwood High School, to visit their friends, school activities and their school's sporting events.

This petition is to add a NEW four-way stop with a crosswalk to be installed at a midway point on Shroyer Rd in Oakwood. The crosswalk will be a four way stop with either stop signs or a traffic light. What best serves the community is to have this new four-way stop intersection at the midway point between E Dorothy Ln and Patterson Rd recognizing that Smith Elementary sits between Aberdeen Ave and Telford Ave. We would also like the city to consider adding speed bumps to slow cars down and more pedestrian signs. By signing this petition we agree that this is a large public safety concern that affects the safety of us and our children.

I HAVE BEEN SPENDING MY MORNINGS WATCHING THE CHAOS AT THAT DAIRY QUEEN CROSSWALK AND IT IS ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING TO SEE CARS SPEEDING BY OUR CHILDREN!! THE OFFICIALS MIGHT BE QUIET FOR NOW BUT THEY CANNOT IGNORE THIS MOMENTUM MUCH LONGER!! WE ARE KEEPING THE PRESSURE HIGH UNTIL WE GET THAT FOUR WAY STOP INSTALLED!!!

I agree, we found a house we liked for sale on the opposite side of Shroyer. We decided against the house for that reason alone, our children would have to cross Shroyer with no cross walk.

Although the posted limit on Shroyer is 35 mph, people often go racing through the open road between Dairy Queen and Shroyer. I personally think speed bumps would be a preferable "first step" to a stop sign or traffic light although I am in support of the petition.

This road needs to be fixed. It should never have been a 4 lane road. It should be a 3 lane road with the middle lane being a tun lane. There should be a stop light at Telford or Aberdeen. The one less lane could then be turned back into tree lawn space to beautify the road on both sides of Shroyer.

Having lived on this road we have had to call police about traffic accidents many times over the 13 years we've lived here-including one where a car was speeding and flipped in our neighbor's yard. Would love any efforts to control speed on Shroyer!

Anytime you have any child crossing a road with a posted speed limit of 35MPH without a light or crossing guard = bad news! Seems very simple to accomplish something so minute to make these kids have a safe journey to/from school. Bertil

I completely agree with this. In a district where transportation is not provided then safe crosswalks should be a priority.

This safety issue needs to be addressed in a community without buses!

I am a "Shroyer Rd." resident. This is long overdue. Darlene
