LeNorman Strong finally folded and admitted that a full semester ban was unacceptable. We forced their hand and secured our rights to recruit. Stay vigilant because we know exactly who will try to pull this stunt again if we let our guard down.

LeNorman Strong and the RPI "Greek Life Task Force" have apparently pushed to ban rush and recruitment at all Greek Life organizations for at least the fall semester. This will deprive incoming and current students of valuable relationships and can threaten the financial security of fraternities and sororities. It is not fair to punish all fraternities for the actions of a few.
Update 6/20/18:
As of an email sent to the RPI community today, LeNorman Strong has confirmed that Fall Rush for Greek Life has been suspended. This is despite his knowledge of opposition, including this petition.
Update 6/26/18:
We may be part of the reason that the Fall Rush ban has been partially lifted. This modification is a step in the right direction. Quote: "Based on my conversations and the recommendations I received, combined with our analysis and consideration of additional information, I have modified my original restriction on rush activities. All rush, recruitment, and intake efforts will be paused from Saturday, August 18 to Thursday, October 18, as opposed to the full fall semester."

We just hit 100 signatures and LeNorman Strong needs to realize we are not going away quietly. He thinks he can just ignore our community but this number proves we are ready to fight his baseless restrictions.

Greek life is an important part of RPI and represent a significant part of the alumni population. The Greek Alumni and RPI should be working together to address the identified problem areas as well as reinforce the positive contributions of the Greek System.
I loved my experience with AGD at RPI. Given the skewed male/female ratio, it was a relief and comfort to have female friends on campus and place to belong that felt safe. Greek Life was a positive and enriching part of my life in college.
Another over-reach by this administration. Time for a new one! PS -Eliminating the Greek system will result in a multitude of underground, completely unregulated organizations that will be much worse than anything under the current system.
The only reason I stayed at RPI or donate was because of my Delt experience. The fraternity networking has been financially rewarding. The school won't even help me connect with other alumni or sell services back to RPI! Brian Plackis Cheng '89
Greek life is an important part of college life providing social, emotional, academic and career support. I am highly disappointed in RPI administration for even considering punishing the entire community because of the poor choices of a few.
This is crazy. Fire Shirley Jackson and bring Greek life back. Until these things happen RPI won't get one more penny from me.
Just why I won't give any money to RPI as long as this constant harassment of students continues. Jackson must be replaced!

Without Greek Life I would have transferred out of RPI. It is the only thing keeping many students there through the depressing weather and academic stress, even those not directly involved benefit from the social events that fraternities provide.
Greek life is an important part of RPI and represent a significant part of the alumni population. The Greek Alumni and RPI should be working together to address the identified problem areas as well as reinforce the positive contributions of the Greek System.
