The Parks Department has formally withdrawn the proposal to rename Roberto Clemente Park. We are moving forward with a commitment from the city to maintain the current name indefinitely. I will be monitoring the upcoming council minutes to ensure this administrative record remains permanent.

We do not support this legacy elimination, despite the wave of recent campaigns to remove the Roberto Clemente park name on Middlesex Street. Roberto Clemente was not just a baseball player, Roberto Clemente was an American pioneer.

I have submitted a formal request for a sit-down meeting with the Department of Parks and Recreation to address our concerns regarding the park name. Local reporters are currently reviewing our documentation and I will provide an update once a formal response arrives from city hall.

Dios le Bendiga! Vivo aquí en Lowell desde el 1979 y fui parte de ese parque en los equipos de Roberto Clemente. Mi juventud me la pasaba ahí al igual muchos hispanos que llevan años en Lowell y siempre le llamaron el Parque Roberto Clemente.
Im young so i know the park as Pailin, and will be called Pailin but for my parents and family who grew up calling it Roberto Clemente. It just shows some of Lowells history and shouldnt be touched.
This park should stay named Roberto Clemente Park. Why not just because of baseball but his true humanitarian aid. He died because of it. Would you change Kerouac Parks name? Lucy Larcom Park? Name the volley ball courts idk but leave the name alone,
There needs to be total transparency and due process; where the community at large is invited to participate and express their opinions. The elected officials should also be mindful of what tone they set when presenting their personal views or views of some of their constituents and avoid inciting divisiveness between the Latino and the Cambodian communities.
This is significant for me. Roberto Clemente's park is the only peace left of my roots in Lowell and they want to remove it. Roberto Clemente's name and history can not be deleted.
We Deserve something that shows OUR culture, we don't have plazas or a long weekend festival. Let Robert Clemente memorial be our thing.

Hi have respect for the asian community, but for them trying to change a park delicate to a hero in my eyes is not right. It's part of lowell history.
