We the undersigned implore the Mayor of Doncaster Ros Jones to request the Environment Agency adapt their approach to maintenance and flood prevention of the river Don and surrounding becks within the Doncaster area.
We demand that dredging be utilised as one in a suite of tools to form part of a wider, integrated and long term maintenance approach to flood prevention.

Seeing this kind of movement is exhausting but it proves that people are finally paying attention to the river. The pressure is building and I refuse to back down until we get a real plan.

with Sheffield implementing flood defences the water was moved down stream possibly causing the flooding at Fishlake. We need to make sure it doesn't happen again

Please do something about this. 12 years since the last time our communities were devastated by floods. Why must we struggle and our economies and lives be put through this again when you have had 12 years!!!!! To do something?

Dredging will not work on a tidal river, it needs the flood defences repairing and made higher to prevent this sort of flooding happening again. It proves it works by the fact the work they did after the 2007 floods protected tollbar this time round.

Dredging regularly AND regular maintenance of flood banks. Flood banks can't work when they aren't maintained and they sink over time so that now we are flooded they snake through the flood waters beside unseen rivers and look for all the world like Loch Ness monsters sliding through the floods. These defences need to be built higher by a couple of feet than they are presently and to a standard LEVEL.

Dredging should never have been stopped on all rivers small or big like the river don , and all the concrete jungles that are being built raising the water table around us

I've been saying since 2007 when Bentley was flooded last time that the rivers should be deepened or widened to accommodate the flood waters. It's alright raising the walls, but that just means any land lower down the line gets flooded. We know it will cost the councils extra money doing this, but isn't it better than all these people being flooded and not being able to get insurance.
