After burying our Dad last year we asked for the best money could buy & were told Lenton's Lane was the place. With the rain we have had over recent months we have been distraught to discover that the area our Dad is buried floods. This is not just a one off with the heavy rains this Winter either. Family members of deceased loved ones at the cemetery have informed us it flooded like this last year, & we can only imagine over previous years too. We have also been told the Council were aware of this & yet allowed people to buy plots & have family buried there regardless. There is no drainage system & with the majority of the land being clay based the water simply sits on the surface creating a lake. Flooding several peoples recently deceased graves. This is heart breaking for all concerned as photos, cards, ornaments & flowers are all water logged & ruined. That is if you can find your wellies to get near the grave in the first place. Please help by signing this petition to show the council that urgent attention is needed. Grief is hard enough, but when you can't even visit your loved ones grave to pay your respects its even harder.

My brother is buried in this cemetery and since he passed away the flooding has always been a problem, as stated it is bad enough losing a much loved member of your family but to not be able to get near their grave to pay our respects compounds the pain.
This is a given surely? That drainage should be employed. The question is: why hasn't it been? It's a resting place for many beautiful babies and it should be achieved as a mark of respect but also for sanitary reasons.
some think needs to be done at lentons lane cemetery my little girls grave is there and its been flooded 2 times all ready and its so bad to go up and have to see it all flooded i hope some think is done about it for all family with loved ones there
My father's grave is near the pond area and I have concerns that the plot will become more waterlogged as time goes by. This is planned to be a family grave and my mother would be devastated if she wasn't able to be interred with my father due to negligence upkeep of cemetery.
Its heartbreaking to see loved ones headstones being ruined by the floods, My mum passed away recently was supposed to scatter her ashes on my daughters grave this week but was flooded so badly it couldnt be done. Its so sad to see loved ones resting place being ruined

Do you know really bugs me is that CCC were quick enough to shout and rant for lights and toys etc to be taken out of trees and the sides of graves or they would remove them all themselves and they can't look after this cemetery properly - grrrr
