Petition to Preliminary Application SPA/4/2019 re: Rezoning/Service Station
We, the residents and homeowners in South Westridge Estates, are opposed to the preliminary application SPA/4/2019 for the rezoning of approximately 23 acres of land at the junction of John F. Kennedy Drive and Munnings Road for the purposes of creating four commercial lots, one of which is intended for a service station, and one multi family residential lot.
We respectfully request that this rezoning application be denied due to the negative impact it will have on our community and ask that the existing zoning remain in place..

I really thought this might just be ignored but seeing the feedback from neighbors lately is just wild and actually starting to make me think we have a real shot here. It is honestly kind of overwhelming to see so many of you speaking up about these lots at the junction because I honestly thought I was the only one losing sleep over the zoning plans.

I oppose the rezoning of South Westridge as it will have a negative impact on the community. Including but not limited to : Environmental impact which is particularly sensitive given the environment and proximity to the water table Increased traffic and noise pollution Possible decrease in property value in a residential zoned area There are two gas stations in close proximity to South Westridge There has been a direct correlation to increased traffic and crime in the area It will lessen the appeal of new homeowners looking to live in a residential community
The gas station will be too close to the lake and is a potential eco-disaster waiting to happen.
Commercial zoning will change the atmosphere and serenity surroundings of South Westridge. Totally object.
There is a gas station building on Gladstone road next to Bahamas Waste, another one in Sandy Port amd another by the police station by the airport. There is no need for another one Also more importantly having a gas station right next to the lake can have devastating effects on the environment. Then there is the extra traffic that will be at the beginning of our quiet neighbourhood.
My family and I stand with our community and does not support the proposed development, particularly the gas station which is not good for the environment. Additionally there is a gas station less than half a mile away.

This is tantamount to invasion of privacy and the safety risk far outweighs the benefits. Further this will no doubt negatively change the character of the neighbourhood and is adverse to the nature of this area. The area is adequately serviced by existing amenities.
