So Lilly got 'in school' suspended today because of her haircut. I love how exclusion and depriving a kid of education is their way of punishing a haircut. This is part of the letter she wrote to the co ordinators of her school.

First off I would like to explain my decision to cut my hair- it is a way to express myself, I personally prefer this hair. I think it is ridiculous that my learning has been halted because of the way I cut my hair. My hair is not hurting anyone and it is not distracting anyone. My hair should be my business as long as im not harming anyone. I am always mutually respectful to teachers and am generally a good student.

Boys have the same haircut, you say they don't but they do. I will not let it grow out until I choose to. If I sit in an office all day doing nothing until then, then so be it. I try at school, I really do, but when I feel strongly about something, I fight for it. My hair is mine and it is not offending anyone.

I meant this letter to be received with a great amount of respect so please don't think I mean any disrespect. I also expect respect in return and don't feel like I am being treated in a respectful way.

Please help support Lilly in standing up to this matter!!
