Final supporters
It has now been more than two months since we submitted our ethics forms on 1st November. Most students have not received their ethics forms back with approval.
If the lecturers are unable to return ALL our ethics forms by Friday 10th January 2020, they need to allow an extension on the deadline for our dissertation and dissertation dissemination (12 minute presentation based on the dissertation).
We should receive a one day extension for every day from January 1st that they are unable to return our forms (so if returned on the 14th, we should receive a 14 day extension).
This is necessary as most people are collecting data via online forms, and have been advised by dissertation supervisors to have completed data collection by January 31st. This is no longer a reasonable time frame in which to collect enough data, or to produce a dissertation to the best of our ability.
Please sign this petition so it can be put to the student union to give us a small extension... or at least return the ethics forms this week.

Just to update - I have had a meeting with the VP of Education in the SU, she has spoken to the course leaders and is investigating the matter and helping us with requesting the extension. Will update again when I know more. Please sign the petition, the more signatures the better!
EDIT 2 09/01/2010: VP of Education has met with course leaders; they will discuss the matter and email us within 10 days (check your student emails). Please do NOT comment with names of lecturers as they will have to be deleted for personal safety reasons.

Still haven't heard a peep from the department which is honestly so stressful and I keep checking my email every five minutes like that will somehow speed up the processing time. The VP of Education is digging around for answers now though so at least we aren't just shouting into the void alone.

I really did not think we would see this kind of turnout so fast and it is just wild to see how many of us are struggling with the exact same thing right now. It feels like someone finally turned the lights on because the student union is actually paying attention now and maybe we can stop stressing about these data collection timelines I hope.

my supervisor told me to get moving but how can i start when i dont have approval yet? this is ridiculous
it’s literally impossible to finish my data collection by the end of the month if i dont get this back today. sort it out
You can't expect a student to work to a shortened deadline when you can't even keep to your own
Very much under pressure, waiting for approval... days are going by and no work is being done and deadline is not extended .
