The Chester Township Planning Board is not respecting the will of Chester's voters. The people of Chester Township voted 62% in favor of legalizing recreational marijuana. This vote was in line with statewide results.
The Planning Board is using old tropes such as a dispensary or farm bringing a certain "element" into town or the commonly debunked theory of marijuana being a gateway drug to legitimize cheating the town out of not only small business opportunities but a possible 2% sales tax revenue. The Board should not be putting their personal opinions above what the community voted for and what is best for the town from a small business point of view.
