It has come to our attention that the 2012 RAZA Graduation and Social Welfare Graduation are taking part on the same day and time. It has consequently created a great conflict among the Latin@ students who compromise 35% of the SW Undergrads. What does this mean to us as students who have worked passionately in both our major and our community? Well it means that we will not be able to share it with both. While the RAZA graduation proves to be a significant and powerful ceremony where many of us will be the first in our families to graduate it is a great shame and disappointment that we cannot share this same joy and accomplishment with the SW Department, a department that is significant to our work and aspiration as students seeking to create change in our communities who need it the most.
We ask that you support the accomplishments of the Latin@ community and ask the Social Welfare Department change the time or date of its ceremony.
This is completely unfair. We worked so hard to get to this point and now we have to pick one or the other? Please fix this schedule.
