Students who will be done with classes in Summer of 2012 will be forced to wait until December 2012 to attend a graduation ceremony. This is unfair to those graduating in the Summer due to the false expectation that was given to them that they would be able to walk in the Spring. In addition, many students plan to travel, relocate, etc. after graduation and setting a ceremony date that will occur months after they are done with school is simply unrealistic. This will prevent a lot of students from being able to attend a ceremony that they have worked so hard for along with robbing their family and friends from the opportunity to join them in a day of celebrating this accomplishment. It has been said that FGCU did not properly plan for the fact that there would be more graduates than expected. However, a shortcoming on their behalf should not affect the students.
