As per the SFMTA, driveway red zones are intended to provide additional turning and clearance for vehicles entering and exiting driveways.

The curbs outside 1818 Broadway have been painted red for at least the last 26 years.

Last year a group of resident homeowners made application to have the then faded curbs repainted. Our application was rejected as the SFMTA requires "that the application be submitted by the Home Owners Association on behalf of the entire building."

Since then the driveways have been repaved and our requests for the restoration of the curbs to their original condition, red zones has been continually ignored by the HOA Board. When cars are parked in the driveway red zone area our vision of oncoming traffic, bicyclists and pedestrians is completely obliterated as we leave the garage onto Broadway. This is very dangerous. It also makes a turn into our driveway when driving west impossible to be made from the right lane and you need to swing into the left lane to clear parked cars on either side of the driveway.

We cannot wait for a someone to be injured prior to correcting this safety issue.

We therefore request that the SFMTA repaint the driveway red zones at 1818 Broadway, San Francisco based on this petition.

This petition will be presented to the SFMTA next week.

If you suffort our efforts please add your signature below. Thank you.

totaly agree. it is way too dangerous trying to see around those cars. the city needs to do their job and paint the curb.

Broadway is a nightmare to drive on already. Trying to pull out of there blind is just asking for a wreck. Get it fixed before someone gets hurt.
