  1. Requesting Belle Meade City Council to return the old northbound Belle Meade Blvd. Stop sign at Chickering Rd that stopped traffic coming from Percy Warner Park direction towards Harding Place.
    1. Reasons
      1. Chickering Rd approach angle to Belle Meade Blvd. is dangerously sharp at approximately 130 degrees requiring drivers to lean forward and crane to the left to spot oncoming traffic … this is difficult for people with back or neck problems as well as the elderly.
      2. The crest of the BMB hill towards the park makes turning off of Chickering challenging because Chickering Rd drivers cannot see the approaching cars from the Park direction until the approaching cars crest the hill at which point they start picking up considerable speed.
      3. The Morning Commuter’s Old Hickory Blvd to Harding Pike cut through runs along the first part of Chickering Rd to Page Rd onto Belle Meade Blvd. This route keeps drivers in Forrest Hills for as long as possible to avoid the Belle Meade Police. Between OHB and Harding Place, commuters get 1 stop sign on Page Road at the Percy Warner Park steps entrance after which cars pickup speed until they reach the stop light at Harding Place. The amount of traffic and the speed of the cars makes it difficult for Chickering Rd drivers to turn right onto BMB during morning rush hour.
      4. This stop sign was there up until 15 or 20 years ago. No one seems to know where it went and traffic has only gotten heavier and faster on BMB since its disappearance due to Nashville's exponential growth and the increased popularity of Percy Warner Park.
    2. Reinstating the North Bound BMB stop sign at Chickering Road
      1. Allows Chickering Road traffic to turn safely onto Belle Meade Blvd.
      2. Slows down Northbound Belle Meade Blvd. traffic approaching W. Tyne and Tyne Blvd. from Percy Warner Park direction which currently goes unimpeded from Page Rd to Harding Place.
  2. This will be brought before the City of Belle Meade's Commissioners at their next scheduled meeting on Wednesday June 17th, 2026 at 4pm.
  3. Please Note: we are not asking for monetary support. This is a free online petition on iPetitions which will ask for you to voluntarily donate to iPetitions after you sign this stop sign petition. None of that money goes to the stop sign effort, nor do we want any money to fund it ... we're just looking for your support in the form of a signature. You do not have to donate to iPetitions for your signature to be counted. Thanks so much for understanding the nature of free online petitions.

Please bring that sign back. I deal with that hill every single day and it is terrifying trying to pull out with cars flying over the crest like that.

We are residents of Chickering Rd and this has become a much busier and unusual intersection with increased traffic.

It would be safer turning right off of Chickering Road onto Belle Meade Boulevard if the Belle meade Blvd. traffic had to stop.
