September 26, 2011 Dear Bibb County Democratic Party Executive Committee: On September 26, 2011, a group of concerned Bibb County Democrats met at an undisclosed location at 7:00pm to discuss grave concerns and complaints from local citizens, Democrats, candidates, and even elected officials about the lack of progress of the county party under its new leadership. After a fair and balanced discussion regarding those concerns, it was determined that the key issue with the lack of progress of our local party rests solely with its new leadership under the chairmanship of Mr. Daryl Morton. Included in the discussion was a basic list of concerns as follows: · Lack of compliance to Party Bylaws Article X regarding the announcement of meetings. Mr. Morton has shown a lack of compliance to this regulation by either only posting meeting announcements on Facebook or not at all. · Speaking to the press twice from his position as Chair without prior approval or notification of the Executive Committee. · Publicly supporting a candidate during a Democratic Primary from his position as Chair of the Bibb County Democratic Party. · Mr. Morton has joined with an agency that includes the Republican County Party Chair, Republican operatives, and Republican elected officials to defeat other Democrats in a Democratic Party Primary. · Failure to follow through on the location of a space for the county party after numerous attempts by post seat holders to offer suggestions about county party office location. · Failure to follow through with requests made as continuing agenda items of the county party. · Failure to comply with meeting requirements for the Bibb County Democratic Party to be certified with the Democratic Party of Georgia. · Improper election of State Committee positions with persons elected not present. · Failure to fill all State Committee elected positions. · Failure to comply with requests from the State Committee i.e., By-Laws compliance. · Failure to maintain consistent membership with the Georgia Association of Democratic County Chairs. · Failure to announce or encourage participation at the State Committee Meetings. · Failure to announce or encourage purchase of tickets or to have a table for the annual Richard Russell GADCC banquet contrary to the desires of the party since the county party has been participating over two decades. · Failure to coordinate a birthday party for our beloved President Barack Obama. · Failure to announce or encourage the participation or purchase of tickets for the annual Jefferson-Jackson dinner contrary to the desire of members of the county party. · Failure to create harmonious relationships with all members and/or Post Seat holders of the party. · Failure to require vote of the General Body for the approval of affiliate organizations. Therefore, pursuant to Article II Section 8 pg. 11 of the Democratic Party of Georgia’s By-Laws, we are respectfully requesting that Mr. Daryl Morton be removed as the Chair of the Bibb County Democratic Party. In light of these concerns, we are officially asking that Mr. Morton not take any action on behalf of the Bibb Democratic Party including speaking to the press, posting on Facebook, blogs, email, committing financial/or other resources, or taking any other official actions as the Chair of the Bibb County Democratic Party.
