Greetings,
Many of the REC members, myself included, have been concerned for some time about the overreaching relationship of the RPOF toward local RECs. The recent events taken by the RPOF over the last several weeks here have called into question our local usefulness in carrying out our committees' mandated goals.
Please look over the attached memorandum and if you agree, please add your name to the growing number of members who feel as you do! Please sign the Petition.
Best regards,
Robert Hyttenhove

Re: Dr. Blake Paterson
The purpose of this correspondence is to convey to you our displeasure regarding your March 13, 2024, decision and subsequent actions taken regarding those grievances filed against Dr. Blake Paterson.
Dr. Paterson inherited an unruly committee largely in disarray and dysfunctional, unable to move forward toward accomplishing its mandated objectives under Article II of the REC Model Constitution. In his short tenure as Chairman, the committee began to function in an orderly and transparent manner. Dr. Paterson established operational order and created a number of much needed interrelated committees designed to meet our mandated responsibilities. Further, through committee, he actively supported the recruitment of grassroot conservative candidates who reflected the values and concerns of the citizens of St. John’s County.
We fully understand your authority under Rule 22 of the RPOF, Party Rules of Procedure. However, we feel the alleged violations do not warrant the severity of the censure. Your decision will have a long-term effect on this committee’s membership and will inhibit the recruitment, development and functioning of this committee in the future.
The signatures below represent the majority of the membership of the Republican Executive Committee. And most importantly, they include the most active and participatory members.
We the below affirmed signators representing the majority of the St. John’s County REC are requesting that you reconsider your decision, review the grievances filed against Dr. Paterson, and reinstate him to his position(s) as Chair of the St. John’s County REC.
Sincerely,
Dr. Michel Pawlowski, D.Sc., CEM

The scale of this response confirms that our concerns regarding the RPOF reach far beyond our local committee. I am currently organizing these signatures into a formal delivery package for Evan Power to ensure our position is officially recorded.

David S Downes United States, Jacksonville I find the removal of Chairman Patterson a disgrace to the Republican Party, the SJC REC and the RPOF. His removal is purely a political, aimed at protecting County Commissioners, aligned with developers, seeking to maintain control over St Johns County residential development. Blake Patterson must be reinstated as Chairman of the SJC REC.
I am in 100% agreement with this letter. I moved to St Augustine and began working with the REC in October/November 2023. I was disgusted with the disturbances being caused by some members of the REC while greatly impressed with Dr Blake Paterson's ability to prevent complete disruption of the meetings. When I attended last month's meeting and found that he had been replaced, I walked out of the meeting as I saw James Parham was now completely supporting the wrong values. Values that I believe the Republican party should be supporting! I have been a monetary & project volunteer since joining but if this man (James Parham) and his group continue to be the leaders, I will quit the REC because I do not want to work with the group of people who now appear to be in control.
I would like to see him back.
I support SJC REC petition
The RPOF's action are quite irregular as a State Republican organization .
I think The RHINOS are in charge at the RPOF !!!
What happened to Dr. Paterson is a tragedy of the highest degree and an assault on the history, culture and respect on the integrity and dedication of the citizens of St. Johns County. It is a shame and reflects poorly on the leadership decision making at the highest level of the FL GOP. Once the FL GOP Chair realizes the faulty decision making process he will reverse his decision. That is real Truth, Justice and the American Way!

Chairman Patterson was doing an excellent job. He raised money, established committees, enabled conservative events, and kept order as much as possible in the face of occasional political disagreement and disruption. Blake stepped up when we needed him most. There are no others willing to take on such an enormous responsibility, in this much needed time. Removing Chairman Patterson is a step in the wrong direction. He should be fully reinstated immediately.
