PETITION TO REMOVE MARK HALBERT FROM THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF NORTH MISSISSIPPI SOCCER ACADEMY
TO: Board of Directors of North Mississippi Soccer Academy
The following members of North Mississippi Soccer Academy (“NMSA” or “Club”) demand the removal of Mark Halbert from the Board of Directors. Mark Halbert, having no experience running a soccer club, has made unilateral decisions concerning the welfare of the Club, all of which affect players, coaches, staff, and parents. We, as paying members of the Club, find this type of management unacceptable. Further, if Mark Halbert remains on the board, the club stands to lose additional staff including the club administrator. This is wholly unacceptable and may have a potentially devastating effect on our kids and the future of their soccer training and playing opportunities.
As members of the club, we want transparency. We want a Board of Directors that makes decisions collectively regarding our kids and the future of North Mississippi soccer. And mostly, we want a Board of Directors that will ensure that NMSA becomes the club first envisioned, the club that we agreed to join. The removal of Mark Halbert is, therefore, a first and necessary step in the process of putting a Board of Directors in place that will consider, in every decision it makes, the impact of its decisions on our children. The following members, each of whom currently pays dues to NMSA, demand the removal of Mark Halbert from the Board of Directors of NMSA:

Removing Mark Halbert as President would be a big mistake. Mark is very knowledgeable and passionate about this game and especially in doing his best in creating a atmosphere of growth for the kids in this club. Suzie is correct that the problems started when Christian left. This new club was a major change for all of us, and Christian left at probably the most critical time. This put Mark in a very difficult situation. He is NOT the issue with the state of the club. Mark is working very hard to keep this program together. As a person, you cannot ask for a better man. Anyone that says he's not liked or is a bad leader doesn't know Mark. I personally trust Mark 100% and feel he will do everything possible for success in our club.
We have been in the dark from the beginning and will pull our daughter from the program if it continues on the same path. This is not what we signed up for and will not pay for this.
I agree with the provisions brought forward in this petition. I do not feel that Oxford’s best interest is included in the recent decisions made by our Board President.
I signed my children up with the vision Shaun Edgar had for not only Oxford kids, but for NMSA as a whole.
My greatest concern is how the leadership of a young club can make such a quick, unilateral and far reaching decision without regard to the consequences and disregard of transparency is reckless!!

Well, think about removing someone just as vital to the club in the same sense. And if your you’re so worried about “our kids”, it’s the very action that was put in place that caused them to be upset in the first place.

Completely understand the frustration with the soccer program. The problem began when Christian left and continued to get worse with the lack of communication from Oxford coaches and/or staff with Tupelo parents/teams. Those frustrations very well could be felt in Oxford but as a Tupelo parent I can’t not speak for them. Mark Halbert has been a huge supporter of the Tupelo soccer program and coaches for well over 10+ years. He is very passionate about soccer in Mississippi and has always had an open door regarding any concerns our family has encountered in this transition.
