Those who have signed this petition seek to remove Coach Jones from his position as head coach of the Timberline High School (THS)football team. Throughout his 5-year career at THS the football program has suffered tremendous losses including the overall win/loss record, community support, loss of potential athletes, as well as diminished morale among players.
Also our defense has been very unsuccessful in the past couple of years under the defensive coordinator Coach Pock the offense has struggled due to Coach Jones and his poor decision making skills. which translates to a 28%-win rate; no other business or corporation would have someone continue to be employed after they have failed to do their job 72% of the time. Recruiters have very little interest in our program due to the number of losses suffered by our team and this, in turn, impacts the ability of our student athletes to be given the appropriate scholarships and football opportunities they have worked so hard for. More importantly, potential student athletes are walking away from our football program instead of running to embrace it as they have in the past; too many talented student athletes have either chosen to attend and/or transfer to other schools such as Yelm or Tumwater who have more successful football programs.
The lack of safety concern and care for our players and not having a trainer to tend to our athletes when injured is huge. Neglecting this falls on the head coach not following his duties in making sure the varsity / jv / and freshman teams have team trainer properly trained during games at a minimum.
In years past, THS football has lived by the motto “Pride Tradition Excellence ” and that has fallen flat due to the lack of leadership. But for all the players who have continued to demonstrate this excellence in their respective communities.
School board and Administrators as well as;
Principal Paul Dean and AD Bush / AD Tafoya the families and communities ask, it is time to resurrect this football program to the fierce competitors we once were and to once again foster a culture of winning, of confidence, and of “excellence without exception” among these young men.
This petition is also requesting that the coaches not be brought back for the 2025 football season and that new head coach be hired for the program. Athletes CURRENT / PAST / PRESENT deserved alot better then what they received this season.

I have spent this week meeting with parents who are heartbroken over how their children are being treated on the field. The silence from the administration is becoming impossible to ignore while our students continue to pay the price for this mismanagement.

Seeing this kind of momentum confirms that I am not the only one who sees how much our players are being failed. It is heartbreaking to watch talented kids lose their love for the game because of these coaching decisions. Your support proves that our community is ready for a change that finally puts the safety and future of these student athletes first.

My grandson transferred to RiverRidge his senior year to play football due to Coach Jones’ coaching. While he’s enjoying football again, he wanted to graduate from Timberline like the rest of his family. Sad disruption to his life.
Coach Jones has consistently shown how little he cares for my son and for other athletes. Sad that my son committed his heart to this program for four years..worst senior season I could have imagined for him.
Our high school football program is supposed to be an integral part of our community in more ways than one. It brings people together but also gives the younger community who participates in our feeder program (TCYFL Blazers) something to look forward to when they reach the high school level. Where we stand at this point with the disappointing past few years is that these kids get to that level and then don’t want to participate under the current coaching staff or they do participate but are made to feel less than or not as important as key players. It’s very disheartening to watch and needs to be rectified IMMEDIATELY!!!
The head coach needs to be removed. He is the one in charge and at the end the day he calls the shots. He is the final decision maker and it's clear he doesn't know how to coach football. OL spacing is a clear issue and hand placement. Offense is the same thing over and over. I don't see anything inspiring with this football staff and that starts with the head coach leadership. And attitude does reflect leadership. Kids are checked out. Losing players to other programs. Kids quiting. The writing is on the wall.
I watched two games this year and do not have a child on the team. I been around football my whole life and never seen a high school team look less coached then a peewee football team.

Hired a choir teacher last year to be the offensive coordinator. Not sure what was going on in Jones mind. Ended up firing the coach after. Then stuck with the same offense this year and the record explains it all. They are English teachers. Not football coaches.
