By signing this petition, you are attesting that the current conditions of the Mosswood dog park are too hazardous for human and canine use and that a new location is desired so that both dogs and their owners can safely enjoy Mosswood Park off-leash.
What would be required to license the meadow side of Mosswood as an off leash dog park with the City of Oakland?

Mosswood Park is a central location for many dog owners who don’t have yards. A safe, fenced dog park is greatly needed. (The current dog park is being used as an encampment for the unhoused.)

I suggest some new thinking about dog parks. Can we institute dog hours at existing parks? Dogs need play time to be healthy. It would be great to be able to enjoy off leash time after work with other dogs, for example from 4-6. Those who don’t want to be around off leash dogs can enjoy the park the rest of the time.

The designated dog areas at mosswood are unsafe for dogs to play in, and using them would displace some of our unhoused neighbors.

The priority at the park should be focused on the homeless, drug use, driving on the grass and destroying the irrigation, fires, driving on the basketball courts, Garbage, etc....
