The Costco on Kanner complex is not just a Costco. It is a gross over-development of a big box store, 18 pump gas station, liquor store, 2 restaurants, a drive through, strip mall and four 4 story apartment buildings.
This proposed development does not preserve the existing wetlands on the property but destroys 100% percent of them. It does not keep any of the native vegetation or maintain the natural habitat for the wildlife.
It has total disregard for the neighbors that will be affected by bright lights, noise and heavy traffic in their neighborhoods.

My husband and I chose Martin County because of the stringent restrictions on development. The goal of Commissioners 10-20 years ago was to protect Martin County from the exact thing that the current Commissioners are planning to do.
I'm a costco member and this location is insane for traffic reasons alone. US 1, South Kanner near 95, or out near the turnpike are proper site considerations. This commission is turning Stuart into West Palm and no it does not raise tax base it raises infrastructure costs that taxpayers not developers have to shoulder.
my wife and I LOVE COSTCO----BUT NOT THE LOCATION--HAVE LIVED HER LONG ENOUGH TO SEE THE VILLAGE OF STUART LOSE ITS SMALL TOWN CHARM--SOON TO BE A TRAFFIC FILLED CEMENT COVERED LOCATION AS OTHERS HAVE SEEN IN THEIR COMMUNITIES.
The increase in traffic on Kanner Highway would be horrific! As it stands now there's a 200+ apts. being constructed on the corner of Kanner and where the Memorial Bridge is and the only way out for this complex is Kanner Hwy. So add that to the Costco development and the traffic would be unbearable and there would be more accidents.
In this age of diminishing resources and climate change this plan is walking back work against pollution habitats for animals and making yet another concrete island. Some legacy for our kids!! Greed isn’t the Only way to conduct ones life!!!
This LARGE type of business should go to Tradition/PSL west. Easy access to highways, etc.
The degradation of our earth and disregard for wildlife in the Stuart area is disgraceful and goes against all Martin County represents to many long time residents.

We are very concerned that this complex is being considered in such a dense location for such a huge undertaking. Development is important, but not so close to Martin County High School and the Cleveland Clinic.
