We the undersigned, being parents and concerned residents call on the Education Authority to reinstate our school crossing patrol person at the Hart Memorial Primary School in Portadown.

The safety of our children has been compromised since the removal of the patrol person and we implore you to act without delay to rectify this and ensure our children's safety is increased. Hart Memorial is the only Primary School in the local area to have their crossing patrol person removed and our children deserve the same service as other School children receive in the area!

The days feel long and the authorities remain silent while our children cross that road without help. We need to push past this hundred signature mark to force them to stop ignoring us.

As community worker for this area I feel it is essential for this primary school to have a patrol man for the safety of children crossing this very busy road .

We definitely need a patrol man or woman I went to this school and we had 1 then and we need 1 now before its too late, I actually said a child 2 weeks ago from being knocked down he had wondered off on his mum and only I saw him he would have been knocked down.

Armstrong Primary School has traffic lights installed now so it is likely that the lollypop man who previously worked there will be grateful of this job. There was no reason to get rid of Hart's lollypop people because no road crossings were ever installed in their place.

There were two crossing guards when I went to the hart one on the loughgall road and one on Charles street allowing for clounagh pupils as well . and there was a lot less traffic then .

It is a very busy road with cars parked right along on either side due to no car park being available, it isn't safe for an adult let alone a child.

The children NI order 1995 say that the wealfare of the child is paramount. So why is it that the walefare of the child isnt paramount when they are going to and from school. The parents and the children have to risk their own lives to walk across that busy road every day.
