We have to have our Brownie/ Junior Girl Scout Leader Joy Grunden reinstated in our Community. In June she was "terminated" by Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania as a volunteer. She was unfairly terminated for trying to gather information to start recruitment events locally. Joy has been involved in Girl Scouts since 2001. She joined to help her grand daughter's troop while her own daughter was on a deployment. She stayed on and started a new troop of her own when there were girls that had no leader. Eventually she started a Junior Troop too for the bridging Brownies that had nowhere to go.

Here's a little bit about Joy:

She is amazing! Anyone that meets her doesn't forget her. She has taken multiple trainings over the years to enhance her skills as a Girl Scout Leader ( more recently she became a certified archery instructor). She developed Zink the Zebra programs for each age level and gave presentations to our local service unit. Over the years she has held many Service Unit positions as well including: Coach, Mentor, Service Unit Delegate and National Delegate. In our local community for the last three years she has also planned and hosted the World Thinking Day event. She is quick to offer assistance to any parent, girl or leader (old or new).

Parents and girls alike ask for Joy by name. The girls and their parents love everything that she does. She takes her girls on trips, teaches them all the Girl Scout songs she can find, and helps them achieve any goal they set their minds on (all while having fun!). We have a very tight knit community and Joy is an integral part of it. We are shocked and saddened that we have to start a new year of Girl Scouts in the Fall and she won't be a part of it. We have to have Joy reinstated as a leader. She loves being a Girl Scout and is the best example we can show our girls for what being a Girl Scout is all about. Joy displays true dedication, heart, determination and enthusiasm that is completely genuine and these girls should be able to experience Girl Scouts through her! Multiple leaders and parents have attempted to contact GSHPA to get her reinstated to no avail. Please help us get Miss Joy back!
